The comprehensive site really offers everything you need to know about this British tradition, including ideas for tea parties, a selection of recipes, a listing of tea and cake places (in England) and even a fun quiz to see which cake you are.

The friendly creators of the site, Janine and Sam, welcome ideas for the development and improvement of teaandcake.co.uk so if you have recipes, tea shop/tea-rooms recommendations, or a photo to add to the teapot or mug gallery, you are invited to send them in and they may add your submission to their site and they will credit you on the site to thank you.

Mental Floss is the name of a magazine and also a fun blog that presents fascinating facts and trivia. The site also features some fun quizzes.

The Toymaker - free papercrafts

The Toymaker is a charming papercrafts site by Marilyn Scott Waters.

The site has a lot of lovely features such as Charles and Brook Otter paperdolls (and outfits) to print out. The Holidays section offers a lot of different templates for paper boxes, decorations, cards and other fun items. The page of free paper toys are particularly delightful.

TwitterLit: "Twittering the first lines of books so you don't have to"

If you love to read, TwitterLit is a site you will certainly enjoy.

It's such a simple idea. The owner and creator of the site, Debra Hamel, posts the first line from a book: "... literary teasers twice daily."

The challenge is to try and guess the name of the book and if you are stumped, Debra provides a link to Amazon (you can choose US, UK or Canada) so you can identify the book and possibly choose to purchase the book as well.

It really is a fun site. It also provides a clever way to discover new books if you are wondering what to read next.

The CraftBits website was created by a mother and daughter team, "located in sunny Brisbane on the east coast of Australia."

I think it's one of the best craft sites on the web. Be sure and check it out! I highly recommend it.

The American's guide to speaking British is exactly what it says. It's a fantastic site - very useful and also very entertaining! I highly recommend it.

The site is conveniently divided into seven sections with lists to explain the difference between words used in the UK and the USA.

On My Desk is a fun blog where "ARTISTS, ILLUSTRATORS, DESIGNERS & CREATIVE FOLK SHARE THE STUFF ON THEIR DESKS..."

It probably sounds silly and nerdy but it's actually quite interesting and indeed rather fascinating to read about their work space and see photos of their desks. Take a look at the blog and I think you will agree.

There's something for everyone here! For instance, I like to knit so I appreciate all the free knitting patterns. If you prefer crochet, there are plenty of free crochet patterns or if you enjoy sewing, the site provides free sewing patterns and projects.
