The site offers all kinds of interesting articles about a variety of topics such as diet & health, interior decorating, travel, pets, fashion, shopping and crafts (you can access free patterns such as a knitting pattern to download for a summer cardigan or a Stripy Sensation tea cosy knitting pattern).

Zen Habits - simple productivity

Zen Habits is a blog to turn to for all sorts of useful tips and advice about ways to make your life easier, more productive, and indeed potentially better and happier.

Leo Babauta writes the Zen Habits blog and this is from the "about" page:

Zen Habits covers: achieving goals, productivity, being organized, GTD, motivation, eliminating debt, saving, getting a flat stomach, eating healthy, simplifying, living frugal, parenting, happiness, and successfully implementing good habits.

The blog follows a weekly routine with features on a specific topic so Monday focuses on productivity and organization, Tuesday is about finance and family, Wednesday is about simplicity, Thursday is about happiness and Friday is focused on health.

The 'favourite posts' listed on the left side of the blog is also a useful feature, especially for new readers.

There is a Zen Habits forum too, where you can "ask questions, motivate each other, and hold discussions" with other readers of Zen Habits.

eatwell is the Food Standards Agency's consumer advice and information site.

There is a lot on the site such as advice for a healthy diet, specific information geared to different ages and stages, health issues, keeping food safe, and a clear explanation about food labels.

The site also provides handy calculators: the Body Mass Index (BMI) Calculator and a calorie calculator.
